Reading is incredibly essential to me, and I want it to be important to my kids too. Although most times, being outside riding on the latest kids scooters would be a good deal more fun, developing the pattern and passion for reading is key.

As kids get older, the same old childrens book is just not going to continue to be appealing. Your brood may have some stories that they get pleasure from hearing over and over again, but they’ll start to convey them back to you as they know it so well. Even supposing they cannot read yet, they have heard the stories so many times that they can narrate them out loud to you word for word. That’s ordinarily when you know it’s time to invest in some additional books for the collection.

Sometimes they are ready for more intricate stories. And of course it’s good to find a book with lots of chapters that’s geared to their age. Something that can read a little every night before bed, but not something that can be completed immediately. It should be a basic story that can be easily understood and easily remembered from night to night, but yet a book complex enough to expand their imagination as we read through it.

Often, I like to search for a new childrens book at our neighboring bookstore. For the sake of simplicity, I tend to stay away from a long book series and look for short books that I read and get through in one or two sittings maximum.

I’ll in addition ask friends and family and get suggestions and recommendations of their preferred childrens book and carry that list with me during my search. Since all youngsters are unique and have their own likes and dislikes I always base my ultimate decisions on the child’s personality and interests.

The majority of times I will buy 2-3 books and let them to make the ultimate book selection. Letting the child be a part of the final choosing and decision-making always makes them more thrilled about starting a new book.
