Sinus

Post-nasal drip can be caused by various medical conditions including sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses), viral infections such as the common cold, the Flu, rhinitis (a runny nose that may be acute or chronic), allergies, or bacterial infections. In some cases, post-nasal drip can be caused by reflux, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Post-nasal drainage can cause nausea.

Allergies, which affect 20 to 25 percent of the population, cause watery itchy eyes, nasal congestion with sneezing, itching and runny nose, post-nasal drip, itchy sore throat with cough, and Sinus pressure, among other symptoms. It’s not unusual to feel a tightness in your throat with post-nasal drip, since the extra thick mucous takes up a little space. Allergies are from the immune system being stimulated. So apparently smoking was masking my allergies all these years.

The post nasal drip is actually one of the sinus headache symptoms because mucus sits at the back of your throat, often provoking even more pain than before during your Sinus infection. The post nasal drip is still killing me, and my neck hurts where the lump is, and I am swallowing past lumps in my throat. The bad thing about these neck/throat feelings is that I have no way to know whether it’s just from scar tissue and/or nerves regenerating, or if something bad is happening in there. Okay, back to the topic .Since then, however, I usually get a z-pack (spelling?) when I get an infection. It really helps my sinuses & the meds have an immediate effect.
